By 1943, she was a munitions worker. She was a witness to a
fight between British and American soldiers in City Road, Chester, which led to
the death of an American soldier. The trial was described in the Chester Chronicle, 9 October 1943 and the Liverpool Evening Express, 3 November 1943.
1945
The Chester Chronicle, 28 April 1945 reported that Bessie
Farndale, who had been formerly living at Lower Bridge Street, Chester, was
charged with a minor wartime identify card offence.
