Deans Hospital on 16 December 1943. The death was registered in South Shields
District in the fourth quarter of 1943 (DR).

18 December 1943: FARNDALE. At the Deans Hospital on 16th inst, aged 8 years, John Hunter, the dearly beloved son of John
and Charlotte Farndale. Internment at Harton cemetery Monday leaving residence
at 1.15. Deeply mourned.
The Deans Hospital,
Dean Road, South Shields was once a hospital for infectious diseases. The Deans
Isolation Hospital was founded in 1883 with 57 beds and is recorded in Burdetts Hospitals and Charities 1929 as being under the
management of South Shields County Borough for the treatment of infectious
diseases, other than smallpox. After 1948 it specialised in the treatment of
tuberculosis. Its function was subsequently changed in about 1967 to the
treatment of chronic illness.
