Tom Christopher Farndale, son
of John Christopher and Jane Barnett (nee Telford) Farndale (FAR00308), was born in Wisbech
District in 1865 (BR).
Tom Christopher Farndales birth was registered in Wisbech District in the
second quarter of 1865 (GRO Vol 3b page 638).
His father, a sea captain and master mariner, was lost at sea on
the steamer The Norfolk in the Bay of Biscay on 22 January 1868. Tom was
three years old.

His mother was not there.
1877
His mother, Jane, married a barrister, S B Ives, a barrister, in
New York, USA in 1877. Rose was fourteen years old.
Rose, but not Tom at this stage seems to have emigrated to join their
mother. The
Boston Globe, 22 Apr 1878, Mon · Page 4 : ARRIVAL OF THE BATAVIA. The Cunard
steamship Batavia, Captain Mouland, from Liverpool, arrived at this port at 6 am this morning
with merchandise and tenty cabin and 244 steerage pasengers. Cabin passengers :
