Frances Farndale was born at Tidkinhow
Farm on 22 January 1889, the daughter of Martin and Catherine Jane (nee
Lindsay) Farndale (FAR00364)
(PR
and family knowledge). Mary Farndale’s birth was registered at Guisborough District in
the second quarter of 1889 (GRO Vol 9d page 508). Mary was the eighth child of Martin and Catherine and the
third daughter.

1882 at Kilton; Catherine J Farndale, 6, born 1885 at Ugthorpe; James Farndale,

At the age of five, she went to school with her
brothers and sisters at Charltons.

Like her siblings, at the age of 11 she went to Boosbeck
Council School.

domestic servant with the Robinson family.

Mary studied confectionary and moved to Horsforth
near Harrogate and Leeds.

married George Brown on 4 December 1920 (Marriage Banns, Boosbeck)
and the marriage was registered in the fourth quarter of 1920 at Guisborough District (GRO Vol 9d page 1181).

Shield, she moved to live alongside them at Low Gatherley, near Scorton.

Frances Brown, born 22 January 1889 died in Northallerton District in 1988 and her death was registered in February
1988, aged 99 (GRO Vol 2 page 2467). She was buried at Bolton on Swale on
24 February 1988 (St Mary, Bolton on Swale PR).
