DASH. LYNDHURST 4, BROOKSIDE 3. On Christmas morning Lyndhurst gave one of
their best displays when defeating Brookside by four goals to three. Shaw, Simmonds and Innes were absentees, but the substitutes, F

LYNDHURST RESERVES, 5; ANERLEY SWIFTS RESERVES, 2. While the Seniors were
battling for league points, the Reserves were enjoying a friendly, Lyndhurst
eventually winning as stated above. W R Farndale secured a couple in the
first half, against one by the opposition and the teams crossed over with
the “Hurst” leading. Shortly after the resumption Lyndhurst went further ahead
through Thompson, but the Swifts soon reduced the lead again. Lyndhurst had
more of the play towards the end, and E Woodham, scoring twice, one from a
penalty, made the total 5.

BOHEMIANS DELIGHT THE ‘KIDDIES’. A miniature Crystal Palace firework display was
staged for the children on Saturday, the equivalent of “Guy Fawkes’ Night”, by
the Beuish Bohemians Social Club, and was held in the
club grounds in Osborne Road, Fulton Heath. Many children were present and all thoroughly enjoyed the bangs and whizzes, to
say nothing of the huge bonfire, built up by Mr. J Larcombe and Mr FA Harding,
and the guy. After the display a masked dance was held for the members of the
club, and this was well attended, about 200 being present. Mr Reginald Farndale
was the MC, music being provided by Will Purton’s Band. A prize for the
“best dressed guy” was won by Mrs FA Harding.

The Liabilities
War Time Adjustment Acts 1941 and 1944 provided
for the arrangement, adjustment or settlement of the financial affairs of
debtors or creditors whose circumstances were affected by the war. Liabilities
Adjustment Officers were appointed to areas by the Lord Chancellor and their
jurisdiction was based on County Court Districts. Persons who were in serious
financial difficulties could apply to the Adjustment Officer in the appropriate
district for advice and assistance to arrive at an equitable and reasonable
scheme of arrangement.
So by 1943, he was a temporary civil
servant and the financial affairs in some regard between Walter and debtors or
creditors were regulated because they had been impacted by the War.
