Helen’s mother passed away. The Ottawa Citizen, 7 September 1949: MRS M A
HOBBS. Brookville. Mrs Maude Alice Hobbs passed away in St Vincent de Paul Hospital
yesterday after being admitted there within the past week. Mrs Hobbs had
resided in Brockville for the past 10 years, coming here from North Augusta
where she had lived for 35 years. She was born in Ottawa January 7, 1880, and
was in her 70th year. Her husband, Edward John Hobbs, died in 1939. She was a
daughter of the late Michael Foley, of Ottawa, and his wife, the former Winifred
Howell, of Ottawa. Mrs Hobbs is survived by two daughters, Mrs O S Gifford,
Margaret, of Brockville, Mrs Lloyd Farndale, Helen, of Brockville, two
sons, Donald E Hobbs and Edward J Hobbs of Brockville,
one sister, Mrs Anne Morrison of Detroit, Michigan, six brothers... as well as
several nieces and nephews and two grandchildren.
