Bradford Observer, 24 October 1942: JUMPING SHEEP IN CRAVEN. At Skipton County Court yesterday Judge Neal gave judgement for £15 to Robert Edwin Farndale, of Wood House Farm, Elslack, on a claim in respect of damage caused to his potato crop last year by trespass on the part of the sheep of a neighbour, John Bancroft, of Brown House Farm, Thornton in Craven. Farndale admitted that there was an obligation on him to keep the fence wall in repair, but he alleged that the sheep repeatedly damaged it when jumping over to get at the potatoes. He repaired the gaps, but the sheep knocked them down. His father, Robert Farndale, said that nothing would stop Lonk sheep from jumping walls unless it was getting rid of the ringleaders of a flock.
