Introduction
There are entries
in the Pipe Roll 1209, 1210 and 1211 which
refer to granting rights in the forest of Farndale to Nicholas de
Stuteville by the Abbot of York in the reign of King John and disputes that
arose therefrom.
Farndale had
become a royal forest reserved for the King.
