Samuel Farndale married Elizabeth Hutton
(1750-1801) on 23 May 1776 in Brotton. Samuel Farndale, married by
banns Elizabeth Hutton, both of the Chaplry Brotton, on 23 May 1776. Banns were published
in Brotton Chapel on 5th, 12th and 19th May
1776 by J Parrington, Minister, Brotton.

In his booklet, ‘Kilton,
This Ancient Hamlet of Old’ John Farndale describes life at Kilton in the 1790s. He writes, ‘……………Near
them is Samuel Farndale and Betty, his wife, and their five children, one yet
still alive (the book was written about 1870), cabinet makers and joiners,
Wesleyans. They had some land, lived to be old and died at Kilton, respected.’

Samuel Farndale, was paid from the Kilton Overseer’s Accounts, £1 1s 0d on 20 June
1795. There are no more payments to Samuel after this one. He died in 1797.

Samuel Farndale,
died in 1797.
Payments
continued to Elizabeth Farndale from the Kilton
Overseer’s Accounts at monthly intervals mainly for ‘meal’ or ‘wheat,’
occasionally for coals and once for going to Guisborough,
up to 1799 after which she was paid 5s a week until 6 April 1800 when she was
paid 4s. There are no further payments to her after this date and she died in
1801.
1811
Elizabeth Farndale of Brotton was buried at Skelton on 24 March 1811 aged 83 (Skelton
PR). Therefore born 1728.
