Robert Farndale was born on 11 October 1772, the son of William & Elizabeth (nee Barry) Farndale, (FAR00157) sailor, and baptised in Whitby on 26 October 1772 (Whitby PR).

He must have been a ship’s carpenter by about 1792 after completing an apprenticeship.

Robert Farndale, a ships carpenter aged 23, was buried at Whitby on 4 June 1796 (Whitby PR).
