Yearsley
1863
Ann Farndale, the granddaughter of Jethro and Alice (nee
Clarke) Farndale (FAR00218) was born on 17 April 1863 (1939 Register). Ann Farndale’s
birth was registered in Easingwold District in the second quarter of 1863 (GRO Vol 9d, page 356).
There are no records of her parentage, but we know she
was Jethro’s granddaughter. She cannot have been the daughter of William (who
already had a living Annie by then), nor John (who was at Leeds by then), nor
Mary, Elias or Elizabeth (who had all died). So Annie must have been a second
child born to the still single Alice Farndale (FAR00301), and Annie later went to live with her grandparents after her
mother married three years later.
1871
Annie Farndale (FAR00453), born 1863, lived with
her grandfather, Jethro and Alice Farndale (FAR00218) in 1871 and 1881.
Annie’s marriage certificate is blank for her father.

80; agricultural labourer; born Coxwold (1791).

had 33 houses; 95 men; 68 women =163 people.
1880
Annie Farndale, married Thomas Horner, a labourer, who was living with Jethro
Farndale (Ann’s grandfather) at the time of the 1881 Census. They married on 31
July 1880 (Coxwold PR) and the
marriage was registered in the third Quarter of 1880 at Coxwold. The name of
her father is left blank on the marriage certificate (Marriage
Records).
