A farmer’s daughter, who married a joiner in 1865, but lived with her parents and 2 year old daughter in 1871 in Marske, but died the same year

Mary Jane Farndale, daughter of William and Jane (nee Scott) Farndale, (FAR00243) of Brotton, labourer, was born on 11 March and baptised at Brotton on 16 March 1842 (Brotton PR). Mary Jane Farndale’s birth was registered at Guisborough District in the first quarter of 1842 (GRO Vol 24 page 370).

Mary Jane Farndale, married Henry Appleby (a joiner aged 23 from Saltburn), on 22 July 1865, at Marske, in the presence of her sister, Sarah Ann Farndale (
GRO Vol 9d page 678). The Census records show that she married a Mr Appleby, but was later living with her father in Marske.
