Star (Darlington), 20 March 1891: JUVENILE THIEVES AT STOCKTON.
Yesterday, at Stockton, James MacPherson, 9 1/2, was ordered to receive six
strokes with a birch rod for stealing “paste” eggs from Mrs Alice Scott's shop
in Francis Street. George Hoyland and Thomas Farndale, boys, were each fined
10s for stealing caps from Mr RA Watson's shop.

Allan Farndale, Tom’s grandson, remembers visiting Stockton when he was about
10 years old, so perhaps about 1952, with his elder brother Howard who was 12.
It might have been when Doris Farndale, Wilf’s wife, was having Melanie. The
family travelled by train, alone, Bristol to Stockton & met the
grandparents. That was the only time Allan’s generation saw them.
1955
Tom Farndale, died age 79, died on 1 March 1955 and
was buried on 5 March 1955 at Durham Road Cemetery, Stockton on Tees (GRO
Vol 1a page 712).
1960
Dora J Farndale died in
1960 at the
age of 82 and her death was registered in the third quarter of 1960 in south
east County Durham (GRO Vol 1a page 507).
