1877

Robert Farndale, son of Robert and Mary Farndale of West Hartlepool (FAR00326) was born in Hartlepool District on 10 November 1877 and baptised on 28 November at Lynn Street United Free Methodist Church (Elaine Farndale's family tree, BR and MC). Robert Farndale’s birth was registered in Hartlepool District in the fourth quarter of 1877 (GRO Vol 10a page 150).

When Robert Farndale was born in 1878, his father, Robert, was 45 and his mother, Mary, was 35.

Robert Farndale aged 28, bachelor, hotel manager of 16 St Oswald’s Terrace, West Hartlepool, son of Robert Farndale, Master Shoemaker, deceased, (FAR00326) married Ethel Barrett aged 23, spinster of 13 Lister Street, West Hartlepool, daughter of William Barrett, Master Fruiterer, at the Methodist New Connexion & Sunday School, Park Road, West Hartlepool, Co Durham on 25 April 1906 (Marriage Certificate). Robert and Ethel signed. The witnesses were W Rawling and Beatrice Wright. Matthew May was the Minister.

Eva J Farndale (FAR00826) was born in West Hartlepool District on29 Feb 1916 (Elaine Farndale's family tree).

1917

There was a 426393 Private R Farndale of the Garrison Guard, 934 Area, The Labour Corps aged 40 (ie born about 1877-78) who was admitted to hospital (The Fourth Stationary Hospital) with a date of discharge on 15 April 1918.

Robert Farndale died in the first quarter of 1936 in Hartlepool, Durham, at the age of 58 (DR).

1937

Ethel died in 1937, aged 54.

Hartlepool Northern Daily Mail, 31 May 1937: FARNDALE - on the 30th inst, at 3 Lister St, FL, aged 54 years, the beloved wife of the late Robert farndale. Cortege leaves above address on Wednesday at 2:30 PM full service in park Rd Methodist Church. Deeply regretted.
