James Farndale, son of Thomas and Sarah (nee Pugh) Farndale (FAR00474) was born in Doncaster District on 16 June 1895 and baptised on 30 June 1895 at Wadworth, 5km SW of Doncaster. James Farndale’s birth was registered in Doncaster District in the third quarter of 1895 (GRO Vol 9c page 777). Thomas, his father, was a labourer when he was born.

Letter from his relatives: "James Farndale, was my husband’s father and was born on 16 Jun 1895 at Wadsworth Lincs. He went to school at Hareworth. He worked at animal husbandry and served in both World Wars. In WW1 he tended the horses. His war service was 31 Aug 1914 to 10 Mar 1919 and from 1939 to 1941. He married Mary Fairburn and they had nine children."
